About Bluehost

Bluehost was founded in Utah in 2003 by Matt Heaton, who had already built two earlier web hosts (50megs.com and 0catch.com) before settling on the Bluehost name. Endurance International Group (EIG) acquired the company in 2010 and ran it as one of its flagship consumer hosting brands. In 2021 Clearlake Capital bought EIG and merged it with Siris Capital-backed Web.com Group to form Newfold Digital, headquartered in Jacksonville, Florida, which has owned Bluehost since; Newfold took on a further $100 million from Clearlake and Siris in December 2025.
