About Linode

Linode was founded in 2003 by Christopher Aker, who owned the entire company himself and ran it profitably for almost two decades without outside investors. It started out of New Jersey, moved its headquarters to Galloway in 2008, then to a converted Philadelphia bank building (once MTV's Real World house) in 2018. Akamai Technologies bought Linode in February 2022 for $900 million, folding it in as Akamai's cloud computing division.
