About Vast.ai

Vast.ai was incorporated in 2016 by Jake Cannell and Christian Horne, who built the platform for a couple of years before launching it quietly rather than with a press push. The idea was to let people rent out spare GPU capacity sitting idle in gaming rigs, old mining farms, and small data centers to researchers and developers who couldn't afford hyperscaler prices. The peer-to-peer marketplace now lists GPUs from more than 350 hosts and has stayed a small, privately held team.
